Vega Sicilia Alion 2022

Founded by the Álvarez family of Vega Sicilia in 1991, Alión was conceived as a new interpretation of Ribera del Duero, combining the family's experience with a more contemporary approach. Its vineyards are located in some of the appellation’s finest areas, where high altitude, low rainfall and poor calcareous soils naturally limit yields and favour concentrated yet fresh Tinto Fino. The 2022 vintage was warm and dry, producing fruit of impressive ripeness, depth and structure.

Made predominantly from Tinto Fino and matured in French oak, Alión 2022 combines the concentration expected from its Ribera origins with the precision associated with the Vega Sicilia family. Dark plum, black cherry and blueberry mingle with liquorice, graphite, cocoa and subtle balsamic notes. Dense yet poised, the palate has polished tannins, vibrant acidity and considerable length, making this a compelling modern expression of Ribera del Duero with excellent cellaring potential.
