Turnau Rondo Regent 2021
The Turnau Vineyard makes the “Rondo/Regent 2021,” coming from vines planted on moraine hills in Baniewice, in Poland’s West Pomeranian region. The soils are sandy clay. The climate benefits from Atlantic and Baltic influences and proximity to the Oder River, giving a long growing season and mild winters. The vineyard is managed with ecological methods and sustainable viticulture practices.
The 2021 Rondo/Regent is a blend of roughly two thirds Rondo and one third Regent. After a 28 day maceration on skins, the wine matured for 12?months in Slavonian oak barriques (once or twice used) before bottling, giving structure and soft oak character. The bouquet shows ripe cherry, smoked plum, hints of leather, wood and spice. On the palate it offers red berry fruits, subtle barrel spice, soft but defined tannins and a smoky, earthy finish. It pairs well with grilled or roasted beef, game, charcuterie or mature cheeses.
