Trediberri Barolo Rocche dellAnnunziata 2021
Produced by Trediberri, Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata comes from one of the most revered crus in the Barolo appellation. Founded in 2007 by Nicola Oberto, his father Federico and their friend Vladimiro Rambaldi, the name "Trediberri" translates as "the three from Berri", reflecting both the partnership and the small hamlet of Berri where the winery is based. Although a relatively young estate, Trediberri has rapidly established itself among Barolo's finest producers through its uncompromising focus on terroir and traditional winemaking. The Rocche dell'Annunziata vineyard, located in the commune of La Morra, is renowned for producing some of Barolo's most elegant and perfumed wines. Here, Nebbiolo is planted on calcareous blue marl soils rich in limestone, silt, sand and clay, with the vineyard's altitude and south-facing exposure contributing to wines of exceptional finesse, aromatic complexity and longevity. The estate farms sustainably using integrated viticulture, ensuring each vineyard expresses its unique identity.
Made from 100% Nebbiolo, Barolo Rocche dell'Annunziata 2021 was fermented in cement tanks with extended skin contact before maturing for around 20 months in large Garbellotto Slavonian oak casks, followed by additional ageing before release. The vintage was profoundly shaped by a devastating spring frost in April 2021, which reduced yields in Rocche dell'Annunziata by approximately two-thirds. Thanks to the resilience of the old vines and meticulous vineyard work, Trediberri produced only a tiny quantity of this remarkable wine, resulting in exceptional concentration while retaining the vineyard's hallmark elegance. Fragrant aromas of rose petals, violets, Morello cherry, raspberry and blood orange are layered with notes of liquorice, sweet spice, mint and crushed herbs. The palate is beautifully poised, with silky yet finely structured tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, mineral finish that captures the unmistakable character of this legendary cru. A superb Barolo with decades of ageing potential, it pairs beautifully with truffle dishes, braised beef, game and mature hard cheeses.
