Toques et Clochers Cremant de Limoux Vintage 2019
Produced in the Limoux appellation in the foothills of the Pyrenees in southern France, Toques et Clochers Crémant de Limoux 2019 Vintage is a traditional method sparkling wine sourced from carefully selected village vineyards across the region. Limoux is one of the historic homes of sparkling wine, where altitude and the influence of both Atlantic and Mediterranean climates preserve natural freshness and acidity, even in warmer years. The 2019 vintage reflects a riper growing season, delivering greater concentration and texture, while still retaining the structural backbone provided by the region’s limestone and clay-rich soils. The cuvée is assembled from selected parcels contributed by growers across the “clochers,” highlighting a more opulent expression of the appellation in this vintage release.
Made primarily from Chardonnay with Chenin Blanc and local varieties such as Mauzac, the wine is vinified in the traditional method with extended lees ageing, and in this vintage shows a notably richer, more opulent style than the non-vintage release. The extended ageing on lees brings pronounced brioche, toasted almond and buttery pastry notes, supported by subtle oak influence that adds further depth and roundness. Aromas of ripe citrus, baked apple and white peach are layered with vanilla, hazelnut and pastry cream. The palate is fuller and more textured than the NV, with a creamy mousse, lower perceived acidity and a broad, generous mid-palate balanced by a gentle mineral edge. Luxurious and expressive, it leans into richness and complexity while retaining freshness on the finish, pairing particularly well with roast poultry, creamy seafood dishes and richer aperitif fare.
