Produced by The Mascot, a Napa Valley project created by Will Harlan, the second generation of the Harlan family behind some of California’s most prestigious estates including Harlan Estate, BOND and Promontory. The wine is sourced from younger vines planted across these renowned hillside vineyards in Oakville, Rutherford and the western Napa Valley. The region’s warm days, cool evenings and varied elevations allow Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen slowly while maintaining freshness and structure. Vineyards are farmed sustainably with meticulous attention to low yields and vine health. Soils vary between volcanic rock, gravel, clay and alluvial loam, contributing complexity, concentration and mineral character.

The 2017 vintage is made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon with small proportions of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Merlot depending on the final blend. Fermentation takes place in small lots followed by ageing for approximately 26 months in French oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop depth and refinement before extended bottle maturation prior to release. The wine displays layered aromas of blackberry, cassis and dark cherry alongside graphite, cedar, cocoa and baking spice. The palate is rich yet polished with fine tannins, balanced acidity and a long savoury finish. It pairs exceptionally well with grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs and mature hard cheeses.
