Tertio de Montrose Saint Estephe 2017
Château Montrose produces Tertio de Montrose. The estate is located in Saint Estèphe on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Its vineyards rest on a deep gravel plateau over clay and marl subsoil, benefiting from excellent drainage and proximity to the Gironde estuary, which moderates the climate. The estate has embraced a sustainable agricultural approach since 2019, promoting biodiversity and careful vineyard management.
The 2017 Tertio de Montrose is a classic Bordeaux blend: 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 67% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Grapes are hand-harvested, gently extracted in small-capacity vats and matured for 12 months with 15% new oak before release. The wine displays a cherry-red colour, aromas of red fruits with light spice and subtle smoky notes, and a full, round attack with refreshing brightness. Soft, supple tannins and balanced acidity make it ideal with roast duck, lamb, charcuterie or rustic stews.
