San Matias Rey Sol Tequila
Casa San Matías, one of Mexico’s most historic family owned distilleries, has been crafting tequila for over 130 years and is led today by pioneering distillery head Carmen Villarreal. The producer cultivates 100% Blue Weber agave in its own fields across the red, mineral rich soils of the Highlands (Los Altos) of Jalisco, where ideal elevation and terroir help develop concentrated sugars and character in the plant. Agaves are hand harvested after 7–10 years of growth.
Rey Sol Extra Añejo is made from double distilled 100% Blue Weber agave, matured for six years in White Ameican and French oak barrels to develop deep complexity and rich texture. The spirit presents a vivid amber colour with copper highlights, with aromas of oak, vanilla, chocolate, hazelnut and dried fruit. On the palate it is full bodied with sweet, roasted notes from extended ageing and a long, refined finish. This luxurious tequila is ideally sipped neat and pairs beautifully with roasted or charred red meats, dark chocolate or rich desserts.
