Description

Rafael Palacios established his estate in Valdeorras, Galicia, in 2004 after acquiring a collection of old hillside vineyards in the Bolo Valley. Renowned for championing the Godello grape, he works with small parcels farmed using organic principles and sustainable vineyard practices, with meticulous manual cultivation on steep slopes. The vineyards lie between 620 and 740 metres above sea level on decomposed granite and sandy soils, where the Atlantic influenced climate and high elevation preserve freshness and allow the wines to express remarkable purity and mineral character. The wines are generally considered vegan friendly.

Rafael Palacios Louro do Bolo 2024 is made from Godello, with a small proportion of other traditional white grape varieties from old mixed vineyards where permitted. The grapes are hand harvested before fermentation with indigenous yeasts in large oak foudres and stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for approximately 4 months on its fine lees, enhancing texture and complexity while retaining freshness. Aromas of white peach, pear, citrus blossom and fennel are complemented by subtle mineral notes and vibrant acidity. Elegant and beautifully balanced, it pairs wonderfully with grilled fish, shellfish, roast chicken, creamy rice dishes and young goat's cheese.
