Quinta do Gradil 1492 2022
Quinta do Gradil is one of Portugal’s historic wine estates, first referenced in a royal document by King João II in 1492. Located in the Lisboa wine region near Cadaval, its vineyards lie on the slopes at the foot of the Serra de Montejunto, influenced by cooling Atlantic breezes. Clay and clay-sandy soils with good drainage help retain freshness and structure.
This red is a blend of 50% Tannat and 50% Touriga Nacional. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats, followed by ageing where around 70% of the blend spends time in French oak barrels for added complexity. The wine shows intense aromas of blackberries, wild berries and subtle spice, with firm tannins balanced by freshness. Enjoy with grilled meats, roast lamb, charcuterie or hearty bean dishes.
