Quinta da Fonte Souto Branco 2022

Quinta da Fonte Souto is the first estate owned by Symington Family Estates outside the Douro valley, acquired in 2017 in the Portalegre sub-region of Alentejo. The property spans 207 hectares, with 43 hectares planted with vines on the slopes of the São Mamede range at 490–550? metres altitude. Soils are schist and granite with good drainage, contributing to concentration and freshness. The estate follows sustainable viticulture and the wines are compatible with vegan diets.

The 2022 Quinta da Fonte Souto Branco is a blend of roughly 75% Arinto and 25% Verdelho, fermented partly in stainless steel and partly in large oak barrels with lees contact, followed by seven months’ ageing in a mixture of new and second-use French and Central European oak. The wine reveals aromas of honeysuckle, citrus, white peach and white flowers, with a creamy texture, lively acidity and a clean, mineral finish. It pairs beautifully with grilled fish, shellfish, seafood dishes or lightly spiced white-meat recipes.
