Pittnauer Pitti Zweigelt/Blaufrankisch 2022

Pittnauer Pitti Zweigelt/Blaufränkisch 2022 comes from Weingut Pittnauer, a family owned estate in Austria’s Burgenland region. The vineyards lie on varied soils of gravel, loam and limestone, benefitting from warm days and cool nights that promote balanced ripening. The estate is certified organic, with sustainable, low intervention farming. The wines are vegan friendly, produced without animal-derived fining agents and with natural ferments.

The 2022 Pitti is a blend of approximately 70% Zweigelt and 30% Blaufränkisch. Grapes were hand harvested and fermented with native yeasts, then matured for about in large neutral oak barrels and occasionaly amphorae to retain purity and texture. Medium bodied, it displays vibrant red and dark berry fruit, spice, pepper and a mineral lift, with supple, fine tannins. It pairs elegantly with grilled meats, roast poultry, paprika spiced dishes, charcuterie and mature hard cheeses.
