Casa Agrícola is the personal project of Pepe Mendoza, one of the leading figures in the new generation of Mediterranean Spanish winemaking. Based in Llíber, in Alicante, the winery is dedicated to recovering indigenous grape varieties and preserving traditional dry-farmed vineyards. The estate is certified organic and follows regenerative, low intervention principles, promoting biodiversity and healthy soils. The old bush vines grow on poor limestone, sandy and clay-calcareous soils, where the warm Mediterranean climate is moderated by altitude and cooling sea breezes, producing wines of freshness, balance and authentic regional character.
Casa Agrícola Fierroca 2021 is made from 100% Giró, a historic Alicante variety that Pepe Mendoza has helped revive. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing for around 12 months in large French oak foudres, preserving the purity of the fruit while adding texture and complexity. Bottled with minimal intervention, the wine reveals aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, pomegranate, Mediterranean herbs and subtle spice, supported by fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Elegant and expressive, it pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled pork, charcuterie, mushroom dishes and semi-mature cheeses.
