Patrick Sullivan Limestone Coast Chardonnay 2025

Patrick Sullivan is one of Australia's most interesting Chardonnay producers, based in Gippsland, Victoria, where he has built a reputation for wines that express their vineyards with clarity and precision. For this bottling, he sources fruit from three distinct areas of South Australia's Limestone Coast: Mount Gambier, Coonawarra and Wrattonbully. The vineyards share a distinctive geology of shallow volcanic soils over limestone and basalt, contributing freshness and a subtle mineral character to the finished wine.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, the grapes are whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in a combination of stainless steel tanks and French oak barriques, approximately 25% of which are new. The result is a beautifully balanced Chardonnay, combining ripe white peach, lemon, grapefruit and citrus zest with hints of toasted hazelnut, gentle spice and subtle oak. The palate has lovely weight and texture, balanced by fresh acidity and a distinctive mineral edge. Generous without being heavy, it offers excellent value and is particularly enjoyable with roast chicken, grilled fish, scallops or creamy pasta dishes.
