Otterbank Matriarch - XO Armagnac Barrel Aged Flanders Red Ale

Aged for 5 years, yes you read that correctly, in oak Armagnac barrels coopered in 1971, this is Otterbank's most complex release to date. Named after the three figureheads of the family, Nana Pam, Granny Peggy and founder Declan's Ma, Jacqui, expect flavours of rich brandy, tart raisin and molasses, with a dry, floral and oaky finish.

Matriarch is one of our favourite beers. We first tried it at the Mullingar Wild Beer Festival, and to say it is unlike anything we had tried before is an understatement. Massive complexity, character, flavour and finesse. We strongly recommend trying this if you're a fan of barrel aged beauties or wild fermentation brews!
