Nicolas Grosbois Chinon Le Pressoir 2023
Domaine Nicolas Grosbois is a family run estate in Panzoult, at the heart of the Chinon appellation in the Loire Valley. Since taking over the family vineyards in 2008, Nicolas Grosbois has focused on producing authentic wines that express the diversity of Chinon's terroir through environmentally responsible farming. The estate is certified organic and follows a low intervention approach, encouraging biodiversity and healthy soils. The vineyards are planted on clay limestone slopes and gravelly alluvial terraces, where Cabernet Franc thrives in the Loire Valley's cool continental climate.
Nicolas Grosbois Chinon Le Pressoir 2023 is made from 100% Cabernet Franc sourced from the estate's younger vines. The grapes are fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks before ageing for approximately 6 months in concrete, preserving the purity and freshness of the fruit without oak influence. The wine is bottled with minimal sulphur, unfined and lightly filtered when required. Bright and expressive, it offers aromas of raspberry, blackcurrant and violet with subtle herbal notes and a touch of black pepper. The palate is juicy, fresh and supple with silky tannins, making it an excellent match for charcuterie, roast chicken, grilled pork, mushroom dishes and soft cheeses.
