Momento Grenache Noir

Momento is the solo project of young winemaker Marelise Niemann, who after years of vintner work in the Cape launched her own label to showcase Mediterranean varieties in South Africa. She sources fruit from old parcels in Voor Paardeberg and Swartland, planting on decomposed granite and clay soils.Farming practices emphasise sustainability and there is minimal use of chemicals.

The Momento Grenache Noir 2019 is 100% Grenache Noir, hand harvested and fermented with gentle extraction to preserve fruit purity. After fermentation the wine is matured in seasoned French oak barrels for around 12 months, allowing textural complexity to develop while retaining vibrant fruit character. It shows bright raspberry and cherry aromas with floral and spice notes, supple tannins and a long, juicy finish. This expressive wine pairs beautifully with grilled pork, roasted vegetables, charcuterie and herb-rich dishes that complement its bright fruit and fine structure.
