Domaine Armand Heitz, based in Chassagne-Montrachet in Burgundy, is a forward thinking estate led by Armand Heitz, who relaunched and expanded his family vineyards from 2012 onwards. The domaine now spans multiple parcels across the Côte de Beaune and beyond, with a strong commitment to regenerative agriculture, biodiversity and minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar. This Melon de Bourgogne is particularly distinctive, as it is planted in Meursault rather than its traditional Loire home, reflecting Heitz’s innovative approach to terroir. The vineyard benefits from Burgundy’s moderate continental climate, with soils of clay and limestone that provide structure, freshness and mineral expression. Farming practices follow organic and biodynamic principles.

Armand Heitz Melon de Bourgogne 2023 is made from 100% Melon de Bourgogne, harvested by hand and vinified with a focus on purity and drinkability. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in neutral vessels to preserve the varietal’s natural freshness and character. The wine is then aged for approximately 6 to 8 months on its fine lees, typically in stainless steel or older barrels, with no significant new oak influence, maintaining a clean and expressive style. The result is a supple, approachable wine with notes of green apple, citrus, pear and subtle saline minerality, alongside a gentle roundness from lees ageing. Fresh acidity and a soft texture make it an excellent match for shellfish, oysters, light fish dishes or simple salads, offering immediate drinking pleasure.
