La Sapata Aligote 2024
La Sapata is a winery founded in 2009 in the Sarica-Niculitel DOC of Romania’s Dobrogea region, an area with winemaking traditions dating back to Greek and Roman times. The estate farms vineyards on sandy-loamy soils with low natural fertility, ideal for expressive wines, and uses organic and sustainable methods with minimal intervention. The grapes are tended by hand and vineyard floors are often kept with cover crops, reflecting environmentally conscious practices. While the estate is not certified biodynamic, many wines including this Aligoté are produced with naturally driven methods and are vegan friendly.
La Sapata Aligoté 2024 is made from 100% Aligoté, a white grape originally from Burgundy that yields crisp, fresh wines with lively acidity. The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed, then fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel to preserve primary fruit character. Matured on lees for a short period before bottling, the wine shows floral and citrus aromas with bright green apple and subtle minerality, a light body and refreshing finish. It pairs beautifully with seafood, grilled fish, salads, goat’s cheese and light poultry dishes, highlighting the crisp freshness of this distinctive Romanian white.
