Weingut Keller Kirchspiel Riesling GG 2024
Westhofener Kirchspiel is one of Rheinhessenâs historic vineyard sites, first documented in 1348. Kellerâs parcel sits high on the east-facing, amphitheatre-like slope, where the vines benefit from shelter from cold winds and soils of clay marl over hard limestone. The Grosses GewĂ€chs comes exclusively from Kellerâs oldest vines, planted in 1964, giving this cuvĂ©e an extraordinary combination of depth and finesse. The 2024 was produced in almost âhomeopathicâ quantities, making an already highly sought-after Keller GG exceptionally difficult to find.
Bone-dry and intensely focused, the 2024 shows the distinctive coolness of Kirchspiel rather than overt ripeness. Lemon balm, grapefruit, green herbs and ripe Mirabelle lead into a taut, energetic palate where chalky limestone and vibrant acidity provide the framework. Made with low yields, rigorous hand selection and traditional maturation in a 1,200-litre German oak StĂŒckfass, it is precise, saline and remarkably persistent, with the concentration and balance to evolve for many years in bottle.
