Kamara Pure Nimbus Russus 2019 is a red wine from Kamara Winery on the slopes of Kamara in the Thessaloniki region of northern Greece. It is part of the Kamara Pure range, made with spontaneous fermentation and low intervention methods. The vineyard work and vinification philosophy reflect a commitment to expressing the local terroir with minimal interference.
The 2019 vintage is a blend of Xinomavro (40?%), Limnio (40?%) and Merlot (20?%). Grapes are half destemmed and half whole bunches, with spontaneous alcoholic fermentation by indigenous yeasts followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation. After blending, the wine is aged for 12 months in old oak barrels, then left on lees with batonnage for three months. In the glass it shows an intense ruby colour with purple highlights, expressive aromas of ripe berries, plum, liquorice, eucalyptus and black pepper, supported by spicy peppercorn and cinnamon notes, mineral earthiness and rounded tannins. Serve with grilled meats, rich stews or Mediterranean fare.
