Description

Château du Cèdre is a respected family estate in the Cahors appellation of south-west France, run by brothers Pascal and Jean-Marc Verhaeghe since the 1980s. The vineyards lie on the terraces of the Lot Valley, where gravel, limestone and clay soils provide structure and freshness.

This wine is made predominantly from Malbec, the signature grape of Cahors, typically blended with a small proportion of Merlot. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with gentle extraction, followed by ageing mainly in tank to preserve fruit purity. The style is fresh and approachable, showing flavours of black cherry, plum and subtle spice with supple tannins. Ideal with grilled meats, duck, cassoulet or mature cheeses.
