Georges Remy Quatre Terroirs No. 22
Georges Remy is a grower-producer based in Bouzy in the Montagne de Reims, one of Champagne’s most prestigious Grand Cru villages, renowned for its Pinot Noir. The estate works with parcels across Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzy and other neighbouring Grand Cru sites, where chalk-dominant soils with varying proportions of clay and marl provide both structure and tension. The vineyards are farmed with a strong focus on sustainable viticulture and careful soil management, with organic certification. The cool continental climate of the Montagne de Reims allows slow ripening and excellent balance in the grapes.
Quatre Terroirs No. 22 is a multi-vintage Champagne built around Pinot Noir (91%) and the remainder Chardonnay, sourced from four Grand Cru villages in the Montagne de Reims - Bouzy, Ambonnay, Louvois and Tauxieres. The blend includes a majority base from the 2022 harvest (90%), complemented by reserve wines to add depth and continuity. Vinification takes place in a combination of stainless steel and oak barrels, with careful parcel-by-parcel fermentation to preserve terroir expression. The wine undergoes extended ageing on lees in bottle for 3 and half years before disgorgement, with a very low dosage to highlight purity and precision. It shows aromas of red cherry, citrus peel and brioche, with a structured palate, fine mousse and chalky mineral finish. It pairs well with shellfish, poultry and refined savoury dishes.
