Description

Produced by Domaine Prieuré Roch, Pinot Noir Vin de France 2023 embodies the uncompromising philosophy established by the late Henry-Frédéric Roch, one of Burgundy’s most influential and unconventional figures. Having also served as co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, Roch believed that great wines should be shaped by living soils and minimal human intervention, a vision that continues to guide the estate today. Farmed according to organic and biodynamic principles, the vineyards are worked by hand with a strong emphasis on biodiversity and natural balance. Although bottled as Vin de France, this cuvée is widely recognised as a declassified Ladoix, reflecting the domaine’s willingness to place authenticity and stylistic freedom above strict appellation conventions. Produced in limited quantities, it has become one of the estate’s most sought-after and characterful wines.

Made from 100% Pinot Noir, the wine is vinified with whole clusters, indigenous yeasts and a minimal-intervention approach that avoids unnecessary manipulation, preserving the vitality and transparency of the fruit. The 2023 vintage combines aromatic purity with the generosity of the growing season, resulting in a wine that is both vibrant and deeply expressive. Aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry and raspberry are intertwined with rose petals, Asian spices, dried herbs and subtle earthy nuances, while the whole-bunch fermentation contributes delicate floral and savoury complexity. The palate is silky yet energetic, with fine tannins, bright acidity and a lingering mineral freshness that speaks to its Burgundian origins. More ethereal than powerful, it captures the singular style of Prieuré Roch, offering a living, expressive and highly individual interpretation of declassified Ladoix Pinot Noir.
