Domaine Huet 'Le Mont Première Trie' Vouvray Moelleux 2018
Produced by Domaine Huet in the Vouvray appellation of France’s Loire Valley, Le Mont Première Trie 2018 is one of the estate’s most profound and long lived expressions of Chenin Blanc. Founded in 1928, Domaine Huet is internationally revered for biodynamic farming and terroir driven wines of extraordinary longevity. The Le Mont vineyard is planted on shallow green clay soils over limestone and chalk bedrock, giving the wine its hallmark precision, tension and mineral structure. Première Trie refers to the first selective harvest pass through the vineyard, where only the ripest berries affected by noble rot are chosen. The warm, dry 2018 vintage delivered exceptional concentration balanced by remarkable freshness and acidity.
Made from 100% Chenin Blanc, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts followed by careful ageing in neutral vessels to preserve purity and vineyard expression. With several years of bottle development already, the 2018 is beginning to reveal impressive complexity while remaining youthful and tightly structured. Aromas of candied citrus, apricot and quince combine with acacia honey, saffron, beeswax and marmalade alongside pronounced chalky minerality. The palate is intensely concentrated and layered, yet lifted by electric acidity that gives balance, precision and extraordinary length. Despite its early evolution, the wine remains youthful and has exceptional cellaring potential, with the capacity to develop further savoury depth, spice and tertiary complexity over many decades.
