2019
This wine is produced by the same team as Château Grand Puy-Lacoste, also in Pauillac. Richly structured, it's packed with black-currant flavors and tannins, which suggest great potential for the wine. Its density and dry core will take time to soften, but it will be worth waiting for 2023 to drink the wine.
Description

Domaine de Saint-Guirons is a small Pauillac estate on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, closely associated with the Borie family, owners of Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste. Its vineyards benefit from Pauillac’s classic gravel terraces, with deep Günzian gravel over clay and limestone, providing excellent drainage and encouraging slow, even ripening. The maritime influence of the Gironde helps moderate temperatures, while the gravelly terroir contributes to the structure and freshness characteristic of fine Pauillac.

Domaine de Saint-Guirons Pauillac 2016 is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The varieties are vinified separately before being blended and matured in oak, allowing the wine to gain complexity while retaining the freshness and structure of the outstanding 2016 vintage. Cassis, blackberry and black plum lead into notes of cedar, tobacco, liquorice and subtle spice. Full bodied yet refined, with firm, polished tannins, fresh acidity and a long savoury finish, it is superb with roast lamb, grilled steak, venison, duck and mature cheeses.
