Contero Brachetto dAcqui Half Bottle
Contero is an historic family estate in Strevi, in the Piedmont region of north west Italy, now owned and tended by the Marenco family, specialists in aromatic wines. The vineyards lie on steep, hilly tufaceous marl soils in a natural amphitheatre ideal for Brachetto and Moscato vines, benefiting from warm days and cool nights. Brachetto is a native Piedmontese red grape known for its aromatic floral and berry character. Combine this with its naturally low tannins making it the perfect grape for lightly sparkling, fragrant wines. Vineyard work is traditional with low yields and follows careful, sustainable farming practices.
Contero Brachetto d’Acqui is made from 100% Brachetto grapes, which are hand harvested and gently pressed with a short maceration to extract fine colour and aromatics. Fermentation takes place at controlled low temperatures in stainless steel and is halted early to retain residual sweetness and natural sparkle. The result is a delicate ruby red, lightly sparkling wine with bright aromas of roses, raspberries and red berries, a softly sweet palate and refreshing finish. It pairs beautifully with dark chocolate desserts, fresh berry tarts, panna cotta, fruit based pastries or enjoyed on its own as an elegant, aromatic aperitif.
