The estate lies in the northern Médoc, near the Gironde estuary, on a high point of land in the hamlet of Ordonnac. The vineyard extends over roughly 60–84 hectares on a terroir of limestone subsoil topped by clay, sand and a high proportion of gravel. The estate belongs to the Delon family and has a long history, vineyards include very old vines, some more than 80 years old.

The 2008 vintage of Château Potensac is a classic Médoc blend. Comprised of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc (with small amounts of Petit Verdot or rare Carmenère), though exact blend percentages vary by parcel.Grapes were harvested and vinified in temperature-controlled vats (stainless steel or concrete), followed by malolactic fermentation and extended maceration, then matured in French oak barrels for approximately 14–16 months.Expect mature aromas and flavours of blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco, earth and subtle spice, with a firm yet softened tannic structure and a deep, elegant finish. This aged Médoc wine pairs superbly with roast beef or lamb, slow-cooked game stews, rich mushroom dishes or mature hard cheeses.
