Chateau Musar Jeune Red 2022
Château Musar is one of Lebanon’s most iconic wineries, founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar and based in the Bekaa Valley east of Beirut. The estate is now run by the third generation of the Hochar family and is known for its traditional, minimal-intervention approach. Vineyards are located at around 1,000 metres altitude in the Bekaa Valley, where a Mediterranean climate with hot days and cool nights supports slow ripening. Soils are predominantly limestone with clay and gravel, contributing structure and freshness. The estate follows low-intervention, largely organic practices, though not formally certified. Many wines are suitable for vegans, but fining practices can vary.
Château Musar Jeune Red 2022 is typically a blend of Cinsault, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, sourced from younger vines in the Bekaa Valley. The wine is fermented in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts and aged for around 6 to 9 months in stainless steel and neutral vessels to preserve bright fruit character. It is bottled early to retain freshness and vibrancy. The wine shows aromas of red cherry, raspberry and plum with hints of spice and herbal notes. The palate is juicy and approachable with soft tannins and lively acidity. It pairs well with grilled meats, mezze dishes, roasted vegetables and Mediterranean cuisine.
