Description

Château du Cèdre is a family-run estate in south-west France, in the Lot Valley near Cahors. Established by the Verhaeghe family and now led by brothers Pascal and Jean-Marc, the estate is best known for its Malbec based reds but also produces whites that reflect the region’s limestone-rich soils and warm continental climate. Héritage Blanc is made from Chardonnay grown on clay-limestone soils, which help give the wine ripe orchard fruit alongside a fresh, stony character. The estate has been certified organic since 2012, following years of organic farming, with a focus on healthy soils and careful vineyard management.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, the grapes are gently pressed before a slow fermentation. The wine then spends eight months in stainless-steel tanks on its fine lees, developing a smooth, rounded texture while preserving the grape’s fresh fruit character. The 2025 offers aromas of crisp apple, lemon and ripe pear, with delicate floral notes and a subtle chalky edge. Dry and lively, it balances juicy orchard fruit with refreshing acidity and a soft, silky finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or alongside shellfish, grilled fish, roast chicken, creamy pasta or mushroom risotto.
