Description

Capanna has been in the Cencioni family since 1957 and is one of the historic estates of northern Montalcino. Founder Giuseppe Cencioni was one of the 25 original members of the Brunello di Montalcino Consortium, while today Patrizio and Amedeo Cencioni continue the family tradition across 25 hectares of vineyards. The estate’s vines are concentrated around the cellar in the Montosoli area, where higher elevations, cool breezes and soils rich in marl, clay and limestone give the wines their combination of aromatic lift, savoury character and structure.

Made from 100% Sangiovese, the 2024 is fermented with a long maceration to extract colour and flavour while preserving the grape’s natural freshness, followed by maturation in large Slavonian oak casks and bottle ageing. Bright cherry, raspberry and violet are complemented by wild herbs, subtle spice and an earthy mineral note. Juicy and energetic, with lively acidity and fine tannins, it has the freshness to drink beautifully now while retaining enough structure to develop over the next few years. A natural partner for Tuscan classics, particularly ragù, grilled or roasted meats, mushrooms, salumi and pecorino.
