Bressia Profundo Malbec Blend

Bodega Bressia is a family owned, artisanal winery in Mendoza, Argentina, founded by respected winemaker Walter Bressia with a focus on terroir driven wines from high altitude vineyards. The Profundo 2021 blend sources grapes from vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and Agrelo, planted around 950-1200 metres above sea level, where warm days and cool nights enhance fruit ripeness and freshness. The soils are alluvial and well drained, with stony components that promote balanced vigour and intense flavour. Vineyard practices include manual harvesting and careful canopy management to optimise ripeness.

Profundo 2021 is a classic Argentine red blend of 50% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot and 10% Syrah, all fermented separately and then assembled. Following fermentation, the wine was aged for approximately 10 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels of first and second use, adding structure and subtle oak complexity. The result is an intense, deep red wine with aromas of dark plum, blackberry and spicy oak notes such as vanilla, chocolate and tobacco. The palate is broad and harmonious, with ripe fruit, integrated tannins and a long finish. Excellent food pairings include grilled lamb, roasted beef, rich stews and mature hard cheeses, where the wine’s depth and structure can truly complement robust flavours.
