Ben Glaetzer Anaperenna 2018

Ben Glaetzer is one of Australia’s most celebrated winemakers, continuing his family’s Barossa Valley winemaking legacy with a focus on precision, balance and site expression. The Anaperenna vineyards are located in the Ebenezer sub region of the Barossa Valley, known for its ancient bush vines, warm days and cool nights with deep red loam and clay soils. These conditions create intensely flavoured fruit with natural concentration and elegance. The estate employs low intervention practices with the vineyards being sustainably farmed.

The 2018 Anaperenna is a blend of 82% Shiraz and 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the hand harvested grapes then fermented in small open fermenters with regular manual plunging to build colour, flavour and texture. The wine is matured for 16 months in 100% new French oak hogsheads, producing a wine with rich dark fruit, blackberry, plum, spice and subtle herbal notes. The palate is structured with fine tannins and bright acidity, pairing beautifully with chargrilled ribeye, slow roasted lamb or game dishes with juniper and redcurrant.
