Bagineti Kakhuri Mtsvane Amber

Bagineti Winery is a small family run producer founded in 2020 in Georgia, rooted in ancient winemaking tradition around the sacred city of Mtskheta. Their vineyards cover a few hectares in Kakheti’s Tibaani micro-zone, planted with indigenous grapes like Kakhuri Mtsvane, grown on calcareous, well-drained soils typical of eastern Georgia. The small artisanal estate favours natural, low-intervention viticulture with organic and biodynamic practises although not officially certifed.

The 2023 Bagineti Kakhuri Mtsvane Amber is made from 100% hand-harvested Kakhuri Mtsvane. The grapes see extended skin-contact (typical Georgian “amber wine” style) in clay qvevri vessels for several months before bottling. The result is a wine with an amber hue offering aromas of apricot, dried orchard fruit, orange peel and wild herbs, a full-bodied palate with gentle tannins, balanced acidity and a long, slightly nutty, mineral finish. It pairs beautifully with grilled vegetables, roasted chicken, spicy Caucasian dishes, strong cheeses or earthy mushroom dishes - letting its aromatic complexity shine.
