Anselmi Capitel Croce 2021
Produced by Roberto Anselmi in the hills of Monteforte d’Alpone in Veneto, Capitel Croce is one of Italy’s most celebrated expressions of Garganega and a benchmark wine for the Soave region. After taking over his family’s historic vineyards, Roberto Anselmi transformed the estate into one of the leading producers in Veneto, championing quality focused viticulture and demonstrating the remarkable potential of Garganega beyond the traditional perception of Soave. The estate’s vineyards are located on the volcanic hills of Monteforte d’Alpone, where basaltic soils, elevated slopes and significant temperature variation between day and night create ideal conditions for producing wines with depth, freshness and remarkable longevity. Farmed with great attention to the environment and vineyard health, Anselmi focuses on sustainable practices and careful site selection to express the individuality of each parcel.
Made from 100% Garganega from the historic Capitel Croce vineyard, the 2021 vintage is fermented and aged on its fine lees in French oak barrels, allowing the wine to develop complexity while maintaining the variety’s natural freshness and elegance. The wine displays refined aromas of ripe pear, white peach and citrus fruits, layered with notes of almond, acacia blossom, chamomile, Mediterranean herbs and a distinctive mineral character from the volcanic soils. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced, combining vibrant acidity with a rich, creamy texture and a long, saline finish. A sophisticated and age worthy white, Capitel Croce demonstrates the extraordinary potential of Garganega when cultivated with precision, making it an exceptional partner for seafood, white meats, risotto, mature cheeses and refined Mediterranean cuisine.
