Caythorpe Family Estate is a fifth-generation family farm in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley, with roots dating back to 1880 when the Bishell family first settled the land. Vineyards were planted in 1987 on the alluvial plains where free-draining gravel and silt loam soils help produce balanced fruit. Warm sunny days and cool nights shape the growing season. The estate follows sustainable viticulture and the wines are produced using vegan-friendly methods.

This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grown on the estate vineyards. After careful harvesting, the grapes are fermented in small batches with gentle extraction. The wine is then aged for around 10–12 months in French oak barrels, adding subtle complexity while preserving the fruit. Expect flavours of ripe cherry, raspberry and soft spice with smooth tannins. A good match for roast duck, mushroom dishes or soft cheeses.
