Domaine Josmeyer Mise du Printemps
Domaine Josmeyer is a historic family estate in Alsace, France, established in 1854 and run today by sisters Céline and Isabelle Meyer, representing the fifth generation. The vineyards have been certified organic and biodynamic since 2004, with a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture and respect for soil life and balance. Located around Wintzenheim and Turckheim in the cool continental climate of northern Alsace, the vines are planted on a mosaic of soils including iron-rich marl limestone, alluvial gravel, silt and sand, providing freshness, minerality and clarity of fruit expression. Meticulous hand-harvesting and low-intervention winemaking allow each vintage to reflect its terroir and the unique Alsace personality.
Mise du Printemps 2024 is a white wine crafted from Pinot Blanc, with a small portion of Pinot Auxerrois often included under the Pinot Blanc designation in Alsace vineyards. Grapes are hand picked from approximately 20 parcels, gently whole bunch pressed over around six hours before spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in century old barrels and stainless steel. The wine is then aged on fine lees throughout winter until spring bottling, allowing texture and complexity to develop. The result is a vibrant, fresh wine with aromas of white flowers, ripe pear, apple and citrus, framed by delicate salinity and lively acidity. It pairs wonderfully with spring vegetables like asparagus, seafood, light salads, fish terrines and soft cheeses, making it an ideal wine for warmer weather and seasonal cuisine.
