Making Muscat is an old tradition in Beaumes de Venise. Its fame spreads thanks to the Pope of Avignon, around the year 1300. During the 14th century, the vineyard is more or less 70 hectarces which has now greatly increased. Two villages are permitted to produce Muscat: Beaumes de Venise and Aubignan. The surface is around 350 hectares for a production of 10 000 hectoliters. This sweet wine is made of one grape variety: Muscat à petits grains (small grape berries). The harvest is often very small and the sugar quantity in each bunch is heavily monitored to ensure the win is well balanced. These vines grow in limestone and red marl soils, which is a type sedimentary rock. Sand is also part of the soil dating from the Jurassic period. Beaumes de Venise enjoys a micro climate with an extreme sweetness, sheltered of the freezy wind called “Mistral”.

This wine is deeply sweet in nature with flavors of honey, apricot and sweet oranges. Well paired with any dessert or charcuterie boards.
