Zuccardi Piedra Infinita Altamira Malbec 2021

At 1,100 metres on the highest part of the Tunuyán River alluvial fan, Finca Piedra Infinita is defined by an extraordinary mix of stones and huge granite rocks covered with calcareous material. Rather than treating the vineyard as one uniform parcel, Zuccardi harvests it according to 12 distinct soil variations, allowing this Malbec to capture the remarkable geological diversity of Paraje Altamira. The 2021 vintage was particularly cool and humid, giving the grapes a long, measured ripening period and an exceptional balance of sugar, acidity and tannin.

Made from 100% Malbec, the grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected before the tanks are filled by gravity. Fermentation takes place in concrete tanks with native yeasts, and the entire wine is aged in concrete, with no oak to mask the character of the vineyard. The result is a remarkably pure expression of Altamira, combining red and dark fruit with floral, herbal and stony nuances. Precise and energetic, it has a firm tannic framework, vibrant acidity and a long, savoury finish.
