Zahringer Spatburgunder 2020
Weingut Zähringer is a sixth-generation family estate in Baden’s Markgräflerland, committed to organic viticulture since 1987 and Demeter-certified biodynamics from 2010. Situated at the edge of the Black Forest, its vineyards on deep loess, loam, and sandstone soils benefit from warm Rhine breezes and southern exposure, ideal for Pinot Noir. The 2020 vintage yielded fully ripe, expressive grapes with refined balance and ripeness.
Spätburgunder 2020 is hand-harvested and fermented in large wooden vessels with gentle extraction, followed by ageing in a mix of large foudres and neutral barriques for around 12-14 months, ensuring structure without overt oak. The wine offers aromas of blackberry, cherry, forest floor, rose petal and gentle spice, framed by elegant tannins and vibrant acidity. Pairs beautifully with roast duck, mushroom risotto, gamebird terrine, or aged alpine cheeses.
