Yves Cuilleron Condrieu 'Vernon' 2023

Vernon is widely regarded as Yves Cuilleron’s flagship Condrieu, sourced from one of the appellation’s most revered historic vineyards. Overlooking the Rhône on dramatically steep, south-facing granite terraces, this exceptional site produces naturally low yields and is renowned for wines of remarkable concentration, precision and longevity. The thin granitic soils force the vines deep into the bedrock, giving Vernon its unmistakable mineral character and refined balance. The warm 2023 vintage delivered beautifully ripe fruit, while the vineyard’s altitude and granite terroir preserved the freshness and tension that define this iconic cuvée.

Produced exclusively from Viognier, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing on its lees in French oak, building texture while allowing the vineyard to take centre stage. Vernon 2023 reveals aromas of yellow plum, apricot kernel, chamomile and verbena, intertwined with citrus oil, fennel seed and crushed granite. The palate is broad and layered yet remarkably focused, combining silky richness with a vibrant saline core and an exceptionally long, stony finish. More than simply an aromatic Viognier, Vernon is a wine of structure, precision and genuine ageing potential. An outstanding partner for lobster, turbot, scallops, roast poultry with morels or aged Comté.
