Ville Rouge Crozes Hermitage Inspiration

Domaine de la Ville Rouge is a family estate in the Crozes Hermitage appellation of the Northern Rhône, founded in 1919 and led today by Sébastien and Audrey Girard, representing the fourth generation. The vineyards are certified organic since 2012 and biodynamic under Biodyvin since 2018, promoting biodiversity and natural balance in the vineyards. Soils in Crozes Hermitage range from terraces of pebbles and clay to alluvial deposits from the Rhône, lending structure and finesse to Syrah grapes grown on these well drained sites. The appellation’s continental climate with warm days and cool nights helps achieve ripe fruit with vibrant acidity and savoury complexity.

The 2021 Crozes Hermitage Inspiration is made from 100% Syrah, harvested from younger vines and organically vinified with minimal sulphur and natural yeasts. A pre fermentation cold soak enhances colour and flavour, with around 20% aged in oak foudres and the remainder in stainless steel for about 12 months, preserving primary fruit clarity while adding gentle texture. Expect ripe red and black fruit aromas with peppery spice, savoury olive hints and soft tannins. This wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, herby roast pork, charcuterie and peppery stews.
