Sino da Romaneira is produced by Romaneira, a family owned estate in the heart of Portugal’s Douro Valley, one of the world’s oldest and most revered wine regions. The vineyards are located on steep terraces above the Douro River, planted on schist and granite soils that promote excellent drainage and concentrated flavours. The Douro’s warm, sunny days and cool nights help preserve freshness and aromatic intensity. The estate applies sustainable viticultural practices across its vineyards, with careful canopy management and minimal intervention in the winery.
Sino da Romaneira Douro 2022 is a vibrant red blend primarily composed of traditional Douro varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Touriga Franca, each contributing structure, intense fruit and aromatic complexity. After gentle fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine was aged for around 12 months in neutral oak to integrate flavours without dominating the fruit character. The 2022 vintage benefited from a balanced growing season, producing ripe black fruit, floral notes and fine minerality. On the palate it shows dark cherry, blackberry and spice with silky tannins and vibrant acidity. This expressive wine pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, grilled meats, rich casseroles and mature cheeses, offering depth and poise at the table.
