Description

Produced by Herdade do Rocim, Vale da Mata Pét-Nat Rosé is a vibrant expression of Portugal's growing natural wine movement, crafted from vineyards in the cool, Atlantic-influenced Alta Estremadura subregion of Lisboa. While Rocim is best known for its wines from Alentejo, the Vale da Mata range explores the freshness and mineral character of Portugal's coastal vineyards, where limestone soils and cooling ocean breezes create ideal conditions for lively, elegant wines. Produced with a minimal-intervention philosophy, this Pét-Nat pays homage to the ancestral method of sparkling winemaking, allowing the vineyard and vintage to take centre stage while preserving the wine's natural energy and authenticity.

A blend of 90% Tinta Roriz, 5% Arinto and 5% Vital, the grapes are co-fermented in cement tanks before the wine is bottled prior to the completion of fermentation, allowing it to finish naturally in bottle according to the ancestral method. Left undisgorged and aged on its lees, the wine develops a gentle natural mousse and subtle yeasty complexity while retaining remarkable freshness. Aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and pink grapefruit are intertwined with notes of citrus peel, fresh bread, wild herbs and a distinctive saline minerality. The palate is dry, vibrant and beautifully textured, with crisp acidity and a long, refreshing finish. Bright, energetic and effortlessly drinkable, Vale da Mata Pét-Nat Rosé is a wonderfully food-friendly sparkling wine, pairing beautifully with seafood, charcuterie, fresh salads and Mediterranean cuisine.
