Description

Produced by the Robert Mondavi Winery, founded in Napa Valley in 1966 by pioneering winemaker Robert Mondavi, whose vision helped establish California as one of the world’s leading fine wine regions. The Private Selection range sources fruit primarily from California’s Central Coast vineyards, where warm sunny days and cool Pacific influences allow Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen fully while retaining balance and freshness. Vineyards are farmed using sustainable viticultural practices, with soils ranging from gravelly loam to clay and sandy alluvial sites that contribute structure and fruit concentration.

The 2023 vintage is made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon, blended with small amounts of complementary varieties to enhance complexity and texture. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel followed by ageing with French and American oak for several months to develop richness and spice character. The wine displays aromas of blackberry, blackcurrant and dark cherry layered with vanilla, mocha and toasted oak notes. The palate is smooth and medium to full bodied with supple tannins, balanced acidity and a lingering finish. It pairs well with grilled steak, burgers, roast lamb, barbecue dishes and mature cheddar.
