Ritme Celler Priorat
Ritme Celler is the Priorat project of Albert Jané, a respected Catalan winemaker who began his career in Penedès before expanding into Montsant and finally Priorat in 2010. Based in La Vilella Alta, the estate farms around 11 hectares of vineyards organically, focusing on old vines between 20 and 90 years of age. The vineyards are spread across several sites within DOQ Priorat at elevations of roughly 300m to 750m, rooted in the region’s distinctive llicorella soils of slate and quartz. This rugged terroir, combined with a dry Mediterranean climate and steep slopes, produces wines of concentration, minerality and depth, reflecting the raw character of the landscape.
Ritme Priorat 2021 is a blend of approximately 55% Garnacha and 45% Cariñena from old vines. Grapes are hand harvested and carefully sorted before a traditional fermentation. The wine is then aged for around 10 months in lightly toasted French oak barrels, along with a portion in large oak foudre to preserve balance and fruit purity. The result is a rich yet fresh wine showing notes of ripe red and black fruits, violet, spice and a hint of liquorice, with fine tannins and a mineral edge. It pairs well with grilled meats, lamb dishes, stews and hearty Mediterranean cuisine.
