Raul Perez La Tentacion Pinot Noir 2012

As one of the finest wine makers and exceptional experimentalist, Raul Perez has created a fascinating spanish pinot noir. From the vineyards of Bierzo which is inland northern part of Spain about evenly between Galicia and Leon, this pinot is a beautiful reflection of the region. Often macerated with stems for longer periods of time, this pinot noir is a robust contrast from the usual french classic. Yet still aged in french oak barrels, giving it some familiar aromatic notes.

On the nose the bouquet presents raspberries and red currants along with notes of light spice and brine. On the palate its a well balanced wine presenting moderate tannins, light tartness and dark fruits. An interesting twist on the classic pinot noir.
