Quinta da Romaneira is a historic, family owned estate in Portugal’s Douro Valley, a region celebrated for its steep, terraced vineyards and ancient wine traditions. Some of the estate’s wines, such as the Mirante Petit Verdot, carry the IGP (Indicação Geográfica Protegida) designation, recognising the controlled geographical origin and quality of the grapes is a wider, more flexible classification within the Douro region. It allows winemakers to use grape varieties not authorised under the Douro DOC rules. The vineyards are planted on well drained schist and granite soils and benefit from warm, sun soaked days and cool nights that preserve freshness and intensity. Romaneira embraces sustainable vineyard practices with careful soil and canopy management and its wines are made with minimal intervention.

The grapes for Quinta da Romaneira Mirante Petit Verdot are hand harvested and fermented with gentle extraction to preserve varietal purity. The wine was aged for around 16 months in French oak barrels, adding structure and spice while retaining vibrant dark fruit character. Floral violet and blackberry aromatics lead to a rich, concentrated palate with fine tannins and balanced acidity, making it an excellent match for grilled red meats, roast lamb or hearty stews.
