Description

Quinta da Muradella is a family owned estate in Monterrei, Galicia, founded by winemaker José Luis Mateo, who has dedicated his work to preserving the traditional grape varieties and unique terroirs of this lesser known region. The vineyards are farmed using organic principles with great respect for biodiversity, old vines and natural balance, following a low intervention philosophy. Located in the Verín Valley, the vineyards are planted on granite and slate-derived soils with sandy textures, where the continental climate with Atlantic influences allows the grapes to retain freshness, elegance and complexity. The wines are generally considered vegan friendly.

Quinta da Muradella Alanda Tinto 2018 is a traditional field blend of native Monterrei red grape varieties, including Mencía, Bastardo, Albarello, Caiño Tinto and other local varieties. The grapes are hand harvested and undergo spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts before ageing for approximately 12 months in used French oak barrels. Bottled with minimal intervention, the wine shows aromas of red cherry, wild berries, violet, herbs and subtle spice, with a fresh mineral character and fine tannins. Elegant and balanced, it pairs beautifully with grilled meats, roast lamb, Iberian charcuterie, mushroom dishes and aged cheeses.
