Pormenor is a small, quality focused producer based in the Douro Valley in northern Portugal, working with old vineyards across the region’s steep, terraced slopes. Founded by Pedro Coelho, the project emphasises minimal intervention and a fresh, precise expression of Douro terroir. Vineyards are typically located at higher altitudes to retain acidity, planted on schist soils that provide excellent drainage and contribute minerality and structure. The Douro’s hot, dry climate is moderated in these sites, allowing balanced ripening. Viticulture follows sustainable principles with manual harvesting and careful vineyard management, though not formally certified organic. The 2023 vintage was warm but produced fresh, well balanced whites from higher altitude sites.

Pormenor Reserva Branco 2023 is a field blend of traditional Douro white varieties, typically including Rabigato, Viosinho, Gouveio and Codega do Larinho. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts, often in a combination of stainless steel and used oak barrels. The wine is then aged on its lees for around 6 to 9 months to build texture and complexity while preserving freshness. It shows aromas of citrus, white peach and floral notes, alongside a subtle mineral edge. The palate is structured and fresh with vibrant acidity and a long finish. It is drinking well now but can develop further over the next few years. It pairs well with seafood, grilled fish and light Mediterranean dishes.
