Planeta Chardonnay Menfi 2023

Produced by Planeta in the Menfi area of southwestern Sicily, this Chardonnay comes from one of Italy’s most influential modern family wineries. Planeta has played a key role in elevating Sicilian wine on the international stage, focusing on site-specific vineyards across the island. The Menfi estate benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate tempered by cooling sea breezes from the nearby coast, which help preserve freshness and acidity in the grapes. Vineyards are planted on a mix of limestone, clay and sandy soils that contribute structure, minerality and balance.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, fermentation takes place in a combination of stainless steel and French oak barrels to balance freshness with texture and complexity. A proportion of the wine is aged on fine lees, adding richness and depth without overpowering the fruit. Aromas of ripe citrus, green apple and white peach combine with notes of tropical fruit, vanilla and subtle toasted almond. The palate is rounded yet vibrant with fresh acidity, supple texture and a clean mineral finish. It pairs beautifully with grilled fish, seafood pasta, roast poultry and creamy vegetable dishes.
